A little Nepali lesson

In the last few days, we have already started learning a bit of Nepali, so that later when we start going to the school, we can already introduce ourself properly or so that hopefully we will be able to bargain better and won’t have to pay the “tourist price” for everything.

So just for fun, here’s a little Nepalese conversation for you to – you can prepare, if you are planning to come to Nepal:

-          Namaste.
-         Namaste.
-          Tapaiko nam ke ho?
-          Mero nam Mónika ho. Tapaiko ni?
-          Mero nam John ho.
-         Tapai kahabata aunubhayo?
-         Ma Hungarybata aaeko ho. Tapai ni?
-          Ma Englandbata.
-          Tapailai kosto chha?
-          Malai thik chha. Tapailai ni?
-          Malai pani.
-          Tapailai vetda khushilagyo.
-          Malai pani, pachhi vetalula.

Did you like it? Are you wandering what it was about? Ok, here’s the same conversation in English:

-          Good morning.
-          Good morning.
-          What’s your name?
-          My name is Monika. And yours?
-          My name is John.
-          Where are you from?
-          I’m from Hungary. And you?
-          From England.
-          How are you?
-          I’m fine. And you?
-          I’m fine, too.
-          Nice to meet you.
-          Nice to meet you, too, see you later.
